I thought of doing something like this and wish I had. I just ran out of time. I still might try to do something silimar soon. In the meantime, Rev. Steve Cholak has posted the best and most enduring tribute to Ken Korby that I have seen. This is how teachers are honored. Thanks, Steven.

    One more item I remembered:

One of Kenneth Korby's greatest works is a marvelous essay entitled "Baptism: Ordination into the Royal Priesthood of Believers." It was delivered as a convention essay for the Montana District of the LC-MS in April, 1988. No, it certainly isn't pushing "lay ministry" as some might mistakenly infer from the title.

    Thanks, John.

One of the writings in the Cresset that I would highly recommend to everyone, is a series of 5 sermons he gave at the Valpo Chapel in Lent 1958. It can be found in the February 1959 edition of The Cresset beginniing at page 6. It includes the classic: "Eucharistic Men."

Pastor Cholak asked about more writings, etc. from Dr. Korby. Here are some of what I know of - many other papers are not yet published but hopefully will be:

Some places to get more of Dr. Korby:

There are several tapes/CDs of his lectures available from both Logia and Concordia Catechetical Academy. www.logia.org www.peacesussex.org

    Also for works in print:

    The Pittelko festschrift

    The Feuerhahn festschrift

Kenneth Korby, "Prayer: Pre- Reformation to the Present," in John Gallen, ed., Christians at Prayer [Notre Dame: University of Notre Dame Press, 1977
[This book is out of print but you can find it in some used theological bookstores.]

Dr. Korby's doctoral dissertation on Wilhelm Loehe is available as a reprint through the Fort Wayne seminary bookstore.

Dr. Korby's questions for self-examination according to the commandments

There are also articles in Concordia Historical Institute Quarterly on Wilhelm Loehe. You may also find articles in old issues of the Cresset from Valpo.
