Wisdom and Eloquence with featured speaker Dr. James Tallmon Tuesday August 4-Thursday Aug 6, 2009 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Ft. Wayne, Indiana Cost: $25/adults, $20/18-12, 11 and under free, maximum cost per family: $90 Cost? Some families have balked at the $25/adult price tag. You get a lot for that money. You get 7 worship services, 2 meals, 7 hours of instruction (3 or 4 from Tallmon and 4 or 3 more from other speakers), a square dance lesson and dance, a game night, and lots of opportunities to visit and socialize. You simply will not find a retreat or conference anywhere in Lutheranism that offers anything even close to this for less than 3 times the cost per person. I know money is tight. But this is a bargain. You can't get a more edifying and joyful vacation than this anywhere and I don't know what you could do with your family for less money. I wish we could make it free, but we can't. ChildrenThe entire retreat is designed for families. We aren't going to have babysitting. We simply understand that there will be a lot of babies, small children, teen-agers, and adults around. The nursery will be available at all times. It will be okay to sit in a sectional while bouncing a baby on your knee. We expect all ages to play together, learn together, and worship together. Some sectionals will be targeted for specific groups or ages (for instance, we will have sectionals aimed at teens, children, pastors, homeschool moms, along with those of more general interest), but everything else will be family-oriented. Some moms, dads, older siblings, uncles, etc, will miss some stuff because the baby is napping or fussy or needs changed. But we expect those people and their babies won't be alone in the nursery, and there will be benefit in that time also. Non-homeschoolers This retreat is not only for homeschoolers. We expect that the bulk of attenders will be homeschoolers, but this is a family retreat. It will be enjoyed by unmarried singles, married couples without children, families with young children, families with grown children, grandparents, teen-agers, etc. |

Allow me to pick a nit. Do you really want to say I get worship services for my cash?
;-)
Sounds like a great couple days! -

We cannot attend this year. We are hoping, however, that this inaugural event goes so well that Redeemer repeats it next year so we CAN come!
Thanks for all the work involved in organizing it.
